The East Region Soccer League (ERSL)

Who are We?

The East Region Soccer League (ERSL) is a non-profit organization in Eastern Ontario that provides soccer competitions to our Member Clubs. We pride ourselves on helping to grow the game of soccer in Eastern and Southeastern Ontario.

We were formed in 2002 and now boast a player cohort of approximately 7,200 participants annually. With over 28 member clubs representing approximately 450 teams from southeastern Ontario through to Western Quebec, the ERSL is the largest soccer league of its kind in the province. The League is run by a full-time General Manager, 2 summer student staff, and a League Management Board made up of 8 volunteers who oversee the operation of our League. Each of our stakeholders is crucial to our success.

How Can YOU Play In the ERSL?

In order to play in the ERSL you must enrol with one of our Member Clubs and join a team that registers to play in our League. The ERSL offers four levels of play - Regional, District Competitive, District Recreational, and District Development. More information on these competitions can be found below under ‘Competition Specifics’. At the conclusion of each season the top teams from our District Competitive divisions are offered promotion into Regional, our highest level of competition, providing opportunity for growth and success!

What Can YOU Achieve by Playing in the ERSL?

Our U13-U17 Season Champions compete at the Ontario Regional Championship each Fall representing the ERSL against the Regional division champions from our sister leagues across the province.

You can be crowned a Champion by winning the ER Cup or ER Shield.  The ERSL hosts these competitions each year to provide a single game knock-out style tournament for all of our youth (U13-U18) teams to participate in as the season is ongoing. The ER Shield competition welcomes entries from our League-registered teams in District Competitive 1 and 2 divisions, while the ER Cup competition is open to District Competitive 1 and Regional-registered teams. This provides District Competitive 1 teams the opportunity to test their skills against Regional level teams who they would not face in regular season play.

Additionally, our graduating players have the opportunity to be awarded 1 of 2, $1500.00 education bursaries each year.  The ERSL Education Bursaries are awarded to a Male and a Female ERSL District Competitive or Regional player who have played in the League for at least 3 of the last 4 Outdoor Seasons in the District Competitive or Regional competitions and have been accepted to a post-secondary institution in the upcoming fall semester.

Lastly, the ERSL recognizes exemplary behaviour promoting the spirit of fair play and compassion in the Regional competition with the Clifford Dell Fair Play Awards. Named after long-serving ERSL Director of Discipline Clifford Dell, the awards plaques are presented at the Annual General Meeting of the Members to a team from each gender whose conduct best represents and promotes the goals and objectives of the ERSL.
