Education Bursary Awards
As approved by the ERSL League

The ERSL Education Bursaries are awarded to a Male and a Female ERSL
District Competitive or Regional player who have played in the League for at
least 3 of the last 4 Outdoor Seasons in the District Competitive or Regional
competitions and have been accepted to a post-secondary institution in the
upcoming fall semester.
Each Club may nominate an unlimited number of athletes per gender who have demonstrated
exemplary sportsmanship/conduct throughout their youth through the
absence of disciplinary action. Candidates will also be evaluated on their
demonstration of community involvement including but not limited to, giving
back to their greater community, involvement in their soccer community outside
of their team, displayed leadership within their Club, and an embodiment of
overall respect for the game, players, coaches, officials, and administrators.
The nomination package for each player must include:
- Nomination letter from the player’s Club Technical Director, Club Head
Coach, or Club President;
- Two reference letters
- A community
reference (ex. Teacher, guidance counselor, community leader)
- A personal
- Proof of acceptance into a recognized post-secondary institution
The successful candidate will be selected by a committee consisting of
East Region LMB members. Applications
will be due by August 1st of each year.
Winners will be selected and notified on or before the 3rd Friday
The award will consist of
two (2) $1500.00 bursaries, one (1) for a female athlete and one (1) for a male
athlete. The awards will be funded through
accumulated discipline fines prior to the distribution of said funds to clubs.
If no annual award is given, then the funds will reside in an Awards Trust
established for the program.
