With the local soccer community behind them, two young up-and-coming soccer players – Antoine Coupland and Cameron Shaw – are hoping to impress as they dress for their home pro club in this year’s CapCity Cup this Tuesday, June 18 (kickoff at 7 p.m.) when Ottawa Fury FC hosts Major League Soccer club Montreal Impact at TD Place.
The friendly match between the two affiliated clubs has quickly become a golden opportunity for young talents to shine in an annual showcase and celebration of the Ottawa-Gatineau soccer community. In fact, CapCity Cup has already delivered a valuable platform in its inaugural year, with three young athletes then on trial with the Ottawa club earning their spot on the 2019 Fury FC roster, including Ottawa-native defender Jadon Vilfort, who signed his first contract with a professional club this season, and the Senegalese sensation Mour Samb, who currently leads Fury FC with six goals and four assists in ten matches.
At only 15 years old, Antoine Coupland is a midfielder from St. Anthony’s Futuro. He has been training with Fury FC for a couple of weeks now and was just recently invited to join the team for this year’s CapCity Cup.
