ERSL Anti-Racism / Anti-Discrimination Statement

The ERSL affirms that "Black and Indigenous Lives Matter".

The ERSL supports the movements against systemic racism and we place tremendous value on inclusion, and respect.  We recognize that racism remains an issue in sport here in Canada and we must work collectively to eliminate it.

The ERSL takes seriously, and has and will follow-up on, all reported instances of offensive or insulting language and or gestures that occur within our competitions. We encourage everyone in our soccer community to report and bring to our attention any instances of racism and discrimination within and surrounding our competitions. The ERSL follows Ontario Soccer guidelines to also identify racist, discriminatory and sexist actions for further investigation and disciplinary action and we commit to treating these instances with the utmost seriousness and attention.

We stand in solidarity with those movements seeking justice for all racialized communities and Indigenous Peoples and we are committed to providing safe, empowering and developmental competitions for all youth of our Region and Districts.

The ERSL plays on the traditional, unceded territories of the:

  • Omamiwininiwak (Algonquin);
  • Huron-Wendat;
  • Anishinabewaki;
  • St. Lawrence Iroquoians;
  • Haudenosaunee; and
  • Mohawk nations.

May we continue to play together in peace.
